David Schwimmer and his wife Zoe Buckmann have called it quits after almost seven years of marriage.
The pair confirmed the news to US Weekly in a joint statement on April 5.
“It is with great love, respect and friendship that we have decided to take some time apart while we determine the future of our relationship,” the statement began.
“Our priority is, of course, our daughter’s happiness and well-being during this challenging time, and so we ask for your support and respect for our privacy as we continue to raise her together and navigate this new chapter for our family.
The couple, who were first romantically linked back in 2007, share five-year-old daughter Cleo Buckmann Schwimmer.
The news comes amid reports that the actor’s friendship with his former co-star Jennifer Aniston has become an issue in recent months, with reports that they’ve been secretly meeting and are “closer than ever”.
The Friends stars – who were the hottest TV couple of the ’90s – have been spotted out several times in LA, enjoying late night drinks at dark, romantic bars – with David wrapping his arm around the A-list actress during one flirty night on the town.
While the pair originally started meeting up to discuss plans for a highly anticipated Friends reunion, pals say they’ve become incredibly close again and speak regularly.
‘They’ve reconnected in a way that’s taken them both by surprise – it’s like putting on a comfy pair of well-worn slippers,’ a well-placed insider tells New Idea. ‘They are inseparable right now.’
