The 35-year-old, who appeared on season 19 of the reality show, was behind the wheel of a pick-up truck on Monday night when he allegedly rear-ended a tractor and fled the scene.

According to Iowa State Patrol, the impact sent the tractor into a ditch on the side of the road, with the vehicle’s driver, 66-year-old Kenneth Mosher, pronounced dead soon after he was rushed to hospital via ambulance.

Soules’ vehicle was later found at his home, with the star reportedly refusing to cooperate with officers until a search warrant was obtained several hours later.

“Mr. Soules would not come out of the home,” the state prosecutor said in court.

“It took hours to get a search warrant to retrieve Mr. Soules from inside of that house to continue the investigation.”

Court documents reveal that alcohol was found at the scene, although Soules has not been charged with driving under the influence.

The star – who has since been released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond for bail – is reportedly “devastated” over the incident.

“Chris Soules was involved in an accident on Monday evening (april 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

“He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away.”
