Brad Pitt has seen his kids twice since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce last month – but the reunions were said to be far from care-free, with the actor saddened at the absence of one of his sons.
A source tells PEOPLE that actor has seen all of the kids, with the exception of Maddox, who chose not to be there. Famously very close to his mother Angelina Jolie and reportedly incidentally involved in a particularly nasty fight between his parents before their split, he – possibly understandably – did not want to be there.
‘Maddox is very close with Angie,’ a source told Us Weekly, further claiming the boy ‘never wants to see’ the star again. ‘He doesn’t really see himself as Brad’s son.’
A psychologist was present at the meetings and all of the kids underwent counseling prior to seeing their dad.
‘He wanted to make sure the meeting would be the most productive for the kids,’ a source told US Weekly.
The source added that Maddox ‘chose not to go and stayed with Angie.’ While Brad is said to be sad that any chance of a happy reunion with the kids was ruined, all parties are treading sensitively around Maddox’s needs and are hopeful of a resolution.
