Musician Melissa Etheridge has slammed Angelina Jolie for the way she’s handling her divorce with actor Brad Pitt.
Etheridge said she was ‘heartbroken’ for Pitt, who was accused of child abuse in the days after Jolie filed the court documents.
‘It breaks my heart that anyone would take something as personal as your marriage and your relationship and your rights to your children and do it as purposefully as I see it’s being done,’ Etheridge, along-time friend of the actor, told Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM radio show.
Etheridge, 55, says she has witnessed first hand another side of Jolie.
‘I was around when Angelina was not doing nice things with Billy Bob to Laura Dern. I went through that on a personal level, and then to know the side of Jennifer and Brad …’
After going through her own custody battle with with her ex Tammy Lynn Michaels in 2010, Etheridge says ‘There’s a way to be. I’ve gone through family courts.’
She added: ‘I’ve been twice around this block, and I know it really well, and I know when there’s some forethought to just how mean [you can be] and just how you’re going to put disinformation out there first.’
