Brad Pitt has opened up in a shocking interview since his divorce from Angelina Jolie – with the 53-year-old actor blaming the split on his excessive drinking, saying he ‘hit the lottery’ but threw it all away.
But while the astonishing admissions of guilt have raised eyebrows all over Hollywood, it seems there was a sinister reason behind the actor’s explosive tell-all.
Legal insiders tell New Idea that Ange forced Brad to publicly take the blame for their high-profile split, and that he ‘had no choice’ but to go public with the interview.
‘There’s no doubt this was part of their divorce deal,’ says the insider. ‘Everyone’s convinced it was one of her conditions for him to see the kids.’
Sources confirm that Ange has been furious over how Hollywood execs have sided with Brad over the divorce, meaning she’s been all but blacklisted in acting circles.
She’s also been shocked that many fans turned on her after the split and has told Brad to ‘fix the problem’ if he wants more access to the kids.
‘Angie will never get over the fact everyone turned on her,’ says the insider. ‘She knew he was going to be doing press and she insisted via their judge that he take the blame and own up to his mistakes.
‘She’s sick of being the bad guy, and it seems the only way to make people realise he’s no saint is if it comes from the horse’s mouth. Sure, Brad messed up, but she made things worse by trying to destroy his reputation. Now she’s got him on the back foot. She’s still manipulating him behind the scenes, vowing all kinds of hell in terms of custody if he doesn’t comply.
‘No-one can believe that interview – Brad’s nowhere near as bad as he makes out he is. It’s like some kind of bizarre confessional, but with a gun to his head.’
