Bindi and Robert Irwin have continually strived to make sure their father, Steve Irwin, has had a long-lasting and prominent legacy all over the world.
Sharing an emotional video of her father to Instagram, Bindi reveals that she had never seen the footage before and that the emotion she felt watching it was indescribable.
‘My first time watching this footage was only a few days ago. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to describe the amount of emotion in my heart once the video ended,’ Bindi wrote.
‘My dad. My superhero. I promise to do my best to make you proud and ensure your legacy lives on forever. A new chapter in our lives has begun as we embark on this journey with @animalplanet. There is so much on the horizon. We can’t wait to share our story as a family ❤️🐊 #WildlifeWarriors‘
In the clip, Steve explains what his ‘ultimate goal’ would be, and that is to have his children carry on his legacy of wildlife conservation. Bindi and Robert are both avid fighters for conservation, and both have pursued various avenues of fighting to keeping Steve’s memory alive.
The Irwin family even have a new series on Animal Planet that is set to star Bindi, Robert and their mother Terri.
Steve tragically passed away at the age of 44 in 2006 after being stung by a stingray while filming a documentary series in Queensland.
