Everyone agrees that weddings can be one of life’s most stressful events, and it appears that even the usually happy Bindi Irwin and her mum Terri Irwin are feeling the strain.
In fact, the tension between mum and daughter was obvious when they were seen squabbling at Brisbane airport last week. Now New Idea has learnt that Bindi is increasingly unhappy about how her mum is taking over planning her big event.

“Terri and Bindi had a terrible argument at the airport, no-one could quite believe what they were seeing and hearing,” a source tells us. “It’s become too much and Bindi has told her mum to step back from the wedding planning for a while.”
Bindi even appeared to be warning her mum to back off at one point as she laid her hand against her mum’s arm.
“There’s no doubt that tension has been rising between them for some weeks now. Ever since Bindi and Chandler got engaged, Terri has become
more and more involved in the wedding planning and now Bindi just feels like her mum is trying to take over the whole thing,” says the insider.
Having successfully steered her own successful career and public profile for years, Bindi is no doubt reluctant to let anyone else decide what direction her and fiancé Chandler Powell’s upcoming nuptials should take.
The conservationist and her long-term boyfriend announced their engagement in July and have confirmed they’ll marry in a dream wedding – complete with wildlife – at Australia Zoo next year.
“Koalas on our wedding day is a MUST,” Bindi even commented Instagram, with Chandler adding, “It only makes sense that we include our Australia Zoo family in on our special day.”
While the couple have always appeared happy living alongside the family business, as well as Terri and brother Robert, last week it became clear they are hoping for a bit more independence as they head towards married life.
They are reportedly considering moving out of the compound and have been eyeing a large $1.25 million property in the foothills of Mount Mellum in Queensland, which would give them far more privacy as they enter married life.
“Bindi feels like she’s losing control of her big day and barely has a say in anything at the moment. Anyone would think it’s Terri getting married, seriously,” adds the insider.
Meanwhile Terri, who wholeheartedly approves of her daughter’s relationship with Chandler, is just keen to help Bindi plan her special day.
“At the end of the day, Terri just wants what’s best for her daughter,” points out the insider.
“She thinks she can do the best job of planning her big day, especially with Bindi and Chandler being so young.”
