It has been confirmed that The Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel’s boyfriend has been died of a suspected overdose.
The body of Dennis Shields, 51 – who was the reality star’s on-off boyfriend was found on Friday at Trump Tower in New York City.
In a statement to People, a New York Police Department spokesperson said: “a 51-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene at Shields’ Trump Tower address.” While authorities could not share the individual’s name, “Preliminarily, we are investigating it as a possible overdose.”
Sources told the New York Post that Shields requested his assistant to administer Narcan, used to reverse opioid overdoses, at around 9.00 am local time, believing he was overdosing on prescription pills.
However the CEO of LawCash lost consciousness before the medication had a chance to work and was pronounced dead shortly after.
According to the Post’s sources, Shields is said to have overdosed on the powerful painkiller OxyContin.
Frankel and Shields began dating in 2016 but have been friends for years. The Skinnygirl mogul went to high school with Shield’s estranged wife, Jill Schwartzberg.
Shields’ wife Jill issued a statement to People, in which she said: “We are all heartbroken. Dennis was, and will always be, the love of my life. His spirit lives on in our children. Please respect our family’s privacy at this time.”
