It’s been thought that the much-loved couple are now battling a series of new financial pressures linked to Bert’s renewed gambling, leading to dark times in the 42-year marriage and a shock public breakdown.
‘Patti and Bert are under an enormous amount of strain, and are very stressed,’ says a family source. ‘They’ve faced a lot of turmoil in their lives, but now that they’re in their 70s, it’s just becoming a little too much to handle.
