Bert and Patti Newton’s Christmas has been dealt a sad blow, after a brazen thief stole their gifts.
Patti revealed this morning that their car had been broken into – with a thief making off with gifts meant for her children, grandchildren and husband Bert. Disturbingly, the car was parked in their drive at the time.
‘I thought, “gee my car is a bit messy, I never leave my car like that,”’ she told Melbourne radio station 3AW. ‘I looked around and realised my pass for 3AW had gone, my E-tag, sunglasses, perfume.
‘Then I remembered, I did all my shopping, wrapped it, put it in the boot, put them in bags and when I went to the boot there was nothing there.’
Patti is dealing with the robbery as best she can – just grateful that it wasn’t worse – even though she says she’s now probably out of time to buy replacements.
‘Nobody was hurt, you’ve got to take the good with the bad I guess,’ she said.
