The Living Room’s Barry Du Bois has spoken out about his battle with depression.
In an interview with Stellar magazine, the cancer survivor says it was his wife Leonie Tobler that helped him.
‘I was dark,’ the 57-year-old said. ‘I don’t think I ever really considered taking my own life, but I didn’t want to be Baz anymore.’
‘I just wanted to leave my world and become a wanderer, to go places where people didn’t know me. Leonie could see me spiralling. She told me I wasn’t the guy she knew.’
Barry was first diagnosed with plasmacytoma myeloma in 2010. He then revealed his second cancer diagnosis in October last year.
Barry is now an ambassador for R U OK?, a mental health charity.
