It was supposed to be a fairy tale ending but this year’s Bachelor just became the most hated man in Australia, after he dumped Nikki Gogan and confessed his love for single mum Alex Nation.
After confessing her love for Richie and truly believing he would pick her, Nikki was sent home without a rose last night.
‘I feel it’s me. Every ounce of me says it’s me,” the 28-year-old said before Richie delivered his decision.
‘What I feel for Richie is like nothing I’ve ever felt before. He’s the one I want to do life with. Do I get to be that girl who gets to be the one at the end and live happily ever after? Do I get to be that lucky?’
Sadly, Richie’s heart lies with someone else.
Buttering her up before breaking her heart, Richie told Nikki: ’You’re like no woman I’ve ever met before.
’I think about what a relationship and what a future would look like with you. And how easy it would be for our lives to come together. How loyal and how trustworthy you would be. And you’d stick by me through thick and thin.
‘Going on this adventure, my family gave me some advice,’ he said. ‘And that advice was to follow my heart. And, Nikki, I really hope you understand but my heart is with Alex.’
But Australia doesn’t agree. and it wasn’t long before the backlash flooded Twitter.
