The groom serenaded by his bride on last night’s episode of Australia’s Cheapest Weddings has defended her passionate performance, saying he loved her singing.
Bride Emma became a social media talking point after a preview clip emerged of her singing Jennifer Rush’s 1980s power ballad, The Power of Love – a song that was later recorded by Celine Dion. But while the memorable rendition has received a mixed response from viewers, groom Steve wants everyone to know that he enjoyed it for what it was – an extremely loving gesture from his beautiful bride.
‘The amount of nasty comments that have been said about my wife is appalling!’ Steve posted on Facebook. ‘What Emma did took so much courage and everyone that was at our wedding loved it including myself.
He believes the brief moment captured on TV didn’t adequately depict her full performance, saying ‘Her singing was actually really good.’
Steve says a wrong perception has been created after many online and in the media misinterpreted his facial expressions. ‘It was a super hot day and being in the suits was so uncomfortable due to the heat,’ he explained in the online post, ‘so if all you so-called adults don’t have anything nice too say don’t say anything at all, or didn’t you get taught that as children?’
Everyone who tuned in last night would have been left in no doubt that both Emma and Steve are lovely people who adore each other deeply – something Steve has proven by defending his wife from haters.
‘I will always stick up for my wife!’ he wrote. ‘What she did for me takes so much courage.’
