Survivor star and war hero Damien Thomlinson has announced he and his partner are expecting a baby.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the double amputee – who lost his legs in April 2009, while serving in Afghanistan – told his thousands of followers that his exit from the hit show had a ‘silver lining’.

‘Got voted off but there is a silver lining to everything and the biggest challenge is yet to come. We love you already Bub,’ the former special forces commando wrote alongside a photo of himself and his partner, Abbey and what appeared to be a pregnancy scan.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Damien revealed the baby was a little girl and the prospect was both ‘terrifying and amazing’
‘It’s been quite the ride, but I really can’t wait for the whole experience, it’s amazing,’ he said.
‘It’s probably easier being shot at or at war than thinking about the daunting thought of raising a child. But, yeah, I’m looking forward to it.’
Damien’s social media followers were quick to congratulate the pair.
‘Wait to you first hold and smell your newborn – true love and nothing else in life can compare brother! get ready for the happy tears mate – oh and no sleep but you’ve been there,’ wrote one supporter.

Damien lost his legs in an explosion during a tour of Afghanistan, Damien previously revealed on Survivor.
‘My platoon were driving special reconnaissance vehicles and my vehicle hit an improvised explosive device,’ he said.
He now uses prosthetic limbs.
