Tensions are running high on the set of Modern Family amid rumours Ariel Winter is set to get the axe.
With cast contracts currently in negotiations, an on-set source tells New Idea Ariel’s head is on the chopping block in a bid to lure back Sofia Vergara, Ed O’Neill and Julie Bowen for a ninth season with lucrative contracts.
‘In order to renew deals for the ‘big three’ [Sofia, Ed and Julie], some of the younger actors will be shuffled or written off the show,’ says the source. ‘There is some anger among the crew that they’re being shafted… but business is business.’
The whispers come off the back of reports network executives have been less than thrilled with Ariel’s recent spate of raunchy outfits and Instagram posts.
Ariel, however, refuses to keep her personal image more in line with her demure Modern Family character, Alex Dunphy.
‘I think there are so many bigger issues in the world that we should be focusing on than what we’re wearing,’ she said recently on The Talk. ‘I’ve been body shamed for just about everything I could be body shamed for.’
