Shortly after the wife of AFL star Gary Rohan found out she was carrying twins, she was told one twin had a condition called anencephaly.
Baby Willow lived for a just few precious hours after she was born.
Her beautiful twin sister Bella, now 1, is thankfully thriving.
In a heartbreaking Instagram post dedicated to Willow, Amie told how her “presence has been sensed more than ever” this week.
“Willow, This week I’ve felt you everywhere baby girl, in absolutely everything I do,” Amie shared.
“You have been popping up in general conversation, you have been talked about often and your presence has been sensed more than ever,” Amie said.
“I don’t know if it’s due to me being home & couch bound with Bella that I’ve taken the time to notice these experiences more but whatever it is please stay 💕
“I love you baby girl 💗🌸🎀 #willownevaeh”
Willow’s condition was extremely rare, and not something the couple had heard of before.
“When we had our 12-week scan, we found out that one of our girls, Willow, had anencephaly, which meant that she would be born without parts of her brain and skull – a condition we were told ‘was not compatible with life.’ I had never even heard of it,” she explained to Harper’s Bazaar in 2018.
Amie told the publication that she continues the conversation about Willow, and about anencephaly, to raise awareness.
“I continue this conversation to raise awareness. On social media, it seems like everyone lives in this perfect bubble.
I decided I wanted to talk about our struggles because everyone has a less than perfect situation they have to deal with,” she shared.
