Radio and TV host Amanda Keller has been awarded an Order Of Australia Medal (OAM) as part of the Queen’s Birthday 2016 honours list.
The award recognises the star’s service to broadcast media and the community.
‘I’m just absolutely thrilled and really humbled,’ the 54-year-old said. ‘I know a lot of people in our community do a lot of work and there are so many unsung heroes, so I’m really humbled to be on this list and it’s reminded me of the good we can do in our community and how I can use this to do more.’
Meanwhile, Keller’s WSFM co-host Brendan Jones also sung his pal’s praises: ‘Getting up at 4am everyday isn’t easy but I feel like I haven’t worked a day in the past 11 years of being on air with Amanda.’
Off-air, Amanda volunteers her time and energy to support a number of charities including The Sydney Kids Committee and Save Our Sons, a charity which aims to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD which affects mainly young boys from the age of five.
NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione, Ros Packer and Reserve Bank governor Glenn Stevens are among the other high-profile names being honoured along with hundreds of others.
