It’s the concert that’s been touted as bigger than the Sydney Olympics.

More than 90,000 fans forced the harbour city into a gridlock as they made their way to see the British songstress perform at ANZ Stadium AKA the home of the 2000 Olympics.

The two hour spectacle was packed with drama from a 45 minute delay in starting to mum-of-one Adele Adkins calling a halt to proceedings when she realised a fan had been injured.

The 28-year-old choked back tears as medics rushed to the side of the stage.

‘Sorry can we stop? Someone’s not well,’ she said through tears.

‘Are you ok? What’s going on down there? Can you make some room?’ she pleaded with the crowd.

In between stunning renditions of her blockbuster hits from Rolling In The Deep to Hello, the tearjerker tunes were peppered with her famous expletive-filled rambling conversations with the audience.

One minute she was admitting, ‘I’m so unfit it’s ridiculous’ to confessing her voice dropped an octave when pregnant with son Angelo and penning James Bond theme Skyfall.

After apologising it’s taken her 10 years to make it to Australia, Adele revealed she is looking forward to heading home to London, ‘because my kid starts school’.

While punters forked out hundreds of dollars for a chance to share the air with one of pop music’s contemporary greats, there’s no doubt the experience was worth every cent.

Adele will perform a second concert at ANZ Stadium tonight followed by Adelaide Oval on March 13 and Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium on March 18 and 19.
