‘I think I’m a cool mum in some respects, because we do it all the time,’ laughs the popular Home And Away star, who has played bubbly Leah Patterson- Baker for the past 17 years.

‘We have big windows at home, so people passing by can see us quite clearly, just bopping away at our own little dance party, just the two of us.

Counting down to her 40th birthday on May 14 – this year it falls on Mothers’ Day – Ada is opening up about life, love, single parenthood, career and ageing in the spotlight, which really doesn’t faze her at all.

‘I’ve learnt to appreciate the blessings in my life, and the number one blessing is my child,’ she smiles.

‘Johnas is the love of my life. He is the most affectionate, warm, funny, happy, amazing person who lights up my world.’

Inevitably, there’s a downside to reaching 40, even for a popular actress and businesswoman who recently launched her jewellery range, Always Ada, through the shopping network TVSN.

‘There are lines on my face that weren’t there and I have less energy, but that’s all about being a working mum,’ she says.

But even down-to-earth Ada won’t rule out cosmetic surgery. ‘I think you should do whatever makes you feel good, and I think these days most people are doing bits and pieces. Botox and lasers are like facials were 20 years ago.

‘But whatever you get done, you want to look like a good version of your age. I don’t want to look 25, I want to look 40.’
