Simon Holmes, the guitarist and lead vocalist of iconic 80’s pop band The Hummingbirds, has died at the age of 54.
The group shared the tragic news with their Facebook fans on Wednesday.
“Simon Holmes, beloved father, friend to countless and our band mate passed away last week,” the post read.

A cause of death is yet to be announced.
Many have taken to social media to pay their respects, reflecting on Holmes’ contribution to the Australian music industry.

The Hummingbirds were considered one of the most promising bands to emerge from Sydney’s inner west, with their 1989 single, Blush, reaching #19 on the ARIA singles chart.
They released four studio albums before their split in 1993.
