They teased us early this year with the announcement of a secret project, and now Hamish and Andy have exclusively revealed to New Idea all the details behind their upcoming TV project.
Fans got the first taste of True Story with Hamish and Andy last night when Channel 9 aired a promotional teaser during the Logie Awards.
Speaking to us after the ceremony, the comedy duo joked:
‘We just launched our new TV show, so while you guys were out here napping, we were quietly launching entertainment news. It’s called True Story, it’s been a couple years in the making.’
The new format see’s Hamish and Andy sit down with everyday Aussies who then spill their hilarious true stories – the former radio stars then film the tales with actors.
‘We used a lot of social media to find the people. We found incredible, fun, real true stories,’ spills Hamish.
‘So Ando and I sit down and talk to these people and as we hear these stories, it comes to life. So some of Australia’s best actors and comedians are bringing it to life as we hear it.
‘It’s that classic story that you’d want to retell. Like you’d hear your mate tell it at a pub and you’d want to tell everyone else.
‘It’s similar to banged up abroad and Drunk History.’
