As Cassie Sainsbury languishes in a Colombian prison, the accused drug smuggler has been dealt another devastating blow with a bitter family feud reaching boiling point.
So enraged is he by her grave predicament, Cassie’s father Stuart Sainsbury has vowed to take matters into his own hands, seeking revenge for his daughter.
And seemingly laying blame with her fiance Scott Broadbridge, Stuart is now preparing to hunt him down.
‘I will find him make no mistke now or later its coming,’ Stuart responded on Facebook in reply to a person who wrote: ‘Must be so hard not to break Scotts arms and legs I know I wouldn’t be able to hold back if it was my daughter.’
But now close friends say Cassie, 22, is beside herself with worry, knowing that her relationship with Scott has been on shaky grounds since her arrest and allegations of a double life working in a Sydney brothel.
She is begging her dad to back off while pleading with Scott to stand by her.
‘Cassie really needs their support,’ says a friend. ‘All of this bickering is making everything worse for her.’
And with tempers already running high between Scott and Cassie’s mother Lisa Evans and sister Khala, who all recently arrived home after a whirlwind trip to visit her, the emotional reunion has only made things worse, leaving her ‘worried sick’ about their ongoing spat.
‘They can’t seem to agree on anything and are keeping their distance from each other,’ says the friend.
‘They even tried to hire separate legal teams and went to rival television networks to do their interviews. Cassie has been left alone in her cell wondering what is going on and who she can really trust.’
