Australian woman Cassie Sainsbury has been sentenced to six-years behind bars in a Colombian prison after she accepted responsibility for drug trafficking.
The 22-year-old - who attempted to board a flight with nearly six kgs of cocaine on April 12 - agreed to part of the prosecution's allegation.
Sainsbury’s lawyers and agreed to a 72-month sentence, as well as a fine of 450 months of wages. Now though, the Australian must wait until the court approves the deal.
According to Channel 9, a prosecutor told the court police found 18 bags “covered in a strange dusty material” when they examined her suitcase.
This was Sainsbury’s first public appearance since her April arrest.
