Cassandra Thorburn has revealed exactly who motivated her to join the cast of Dancing with the Stars.
The journalist told The Daily Telegraph it was her son Jackson telling her she couldn’t dance that led her to join the show.
‘I went to Jackson, my eldest, and I said, "I think I'm going to do DWTS" and he turned and said "No, you're not - you can't f***ing dance". And right then and there I decided it was time I learnt to dance.'
Cass added: 'So I signed up. If Jackson - who did 10 years of ballet - thinks I can't dance then I'm going to learn to dance.'
The 47-year-old - who recently divorced from TV star Karl Stefanovic - recently revealed to Confidential that she is 'reclaiming her identity' and says she doesn’t want to be seen as anyone’s wife.
'There's the Cass that people think of as the former Mrs Stefanovic. I was never a Mrs Stefanovic. I have always been Cass Thorburn,' she told Confidential.
'It is a fresh start to a new year and a great outlook... I can control being able to present myself as me,'
'People were interested and wanted to know who I am and that is why Dancing With The Stars is a good thing for me.
'If they like me as a person, which hopefully they will, then I will be able to move on with a career,' she concluded.
A source revealed to New Idea that Karl, 44, is less than impressed by the mother of his children taking on the highly coveted role on celebrity reality show Dancing with the Stars.
“He basically lost his job because of their messy divorce,” says a friend. “The last thing he wants is Cass trotting out on prime time television week after week while he sits at home with no job.”
