Brad and Courtney’s engagement on Bride & Prejudice was anything but smooth.
Rife with drama and tension, the 18-year-old bride-to-be and her 20-year-old future groom came up against major disapproval from Brad’s mother Sherrie.
In the end, jealousy and their age became the ultimate dealbreaker and their impending wedding was called off following a fiery row in Kings Cross after Brad’s bucks party went awry.
‘I’m not going to cheat on you, I’m going to marry you,’ Brad exclaimed. ‘If you don’t trust me after five years, then that’s it, we need to split.’
Courtney was seen storming off, signalling the relationship was over. Soon after, Brad was quick to reveal his relief at not going through with the wedding. ‘I am a free man. I’m happy about it, but I’m also sad as well’ Brad says.
‘Is this who I want to be with my whole life? To be controlled? I could have been 20 and divorced!’
When New Idea spoke to Sherrie before the show aired, she couldn’t hide her lack of support for the relationship.
‘She took Bradley away from me for the last two years, he was living with her and the only way I got to see my son was if I rang him and asked him to meet me somewhere,’ Sherrie explains. ‘Courtney never came with him. She took him away from me for a long time. The first time I saw her was when they walked in and told me they were getting married.’
