“It was full-on,” Hank, 26, tells WHO. “I was back on my R&R period [from his mining job] and Lily and I were at Mum and Dad’s house and everyone had gone to sleep and we kept hearing this banging.”
“And so I jumped out of bed and was running around the house trying to figure out what the banging was, and I went into Mum’s room. She had fallen off the bed and tangled herself in her sheets, and she was having a stroke.”
“She was knocking, that was what she was doing to try and get our attention,” Lily says of the alarming scene.
“It was really scary, particularly for Hank and his dad... I tried to be there as much as I could while she was recovering.”
While it was daunting, Lily remained loyal to her partner and did her very best to support his family during their time of need. “Any other issues you put aside when you’re going through something like that,” she explained.
“Hank had to go straight back to the mines and so just to be able to go and see her on Hank’s behalf, I did that quite a bit.”
