Who doesn’t love a classic tale of forbidden love?
The first episode of Bride and Prejudice: The Forbidden Weddings will air on Wednesday, October 2 at 7:30 pm and will continue on Thursday, October 3 at the same time.
The series features five couples each desperate to marry the love of their life, but their families are fiercely opposed to their union.
Jess never imagined she would fall in love with another woman, but after meeting her fiancé Jess, she hasn’t looked back.
There’s just one problem – JoJo’s strict Catholic parents believe their attendance at the wedding will be a sin.

The couple met online two and a half years ago and have been inseparable ever since.
“We do everything together. We bought a house together and we’ve travelled together,” says 38-year-old JoJo.
“I actually can’t wait until we get married and I can call her my wife.”
The Brisbane-native says she has never questioned her feelings for Jess.
“Jess is beautiful, smart and humble. She completes me in every way. Being with Jess has always felt right. She is talented and has the voice of an angel.”
28-year-old Jess is also excited to call JoJo her wife.
“I love everything about her. She is the most caring, selfless and fun- loving woman you will meet. I love the compassion she has for people. She will always stand up for what she believes is right,” she says.
However, there’s one grey cloud on their impending nuptials, and that is the lack of support from JoJo’s parents.
“My parents are strict Lebanese Catholics and they don’t support same sex relationships and definitely not same sex marriage,” explains JoJo. “We want my parents to come to our wedding, we want them to support us.
“But we’re constantly feeling like we’re being judged, and we wish our family could put their pride aside and just see how happy we really are.”

Sid, 74 and Lody, 65, love their daughter, and her partner Jess, but can’t understand why the girls need to marry.
“They’re good people, but they are not doing the right thing,” says Lody.
“I never thought in a million years that my daughter would come home one day and tell me she’s in love with another girl. I used to hear it about other families, but I never thought it would happen to my family. But it did.”
“I hope she wakes up one day and realises that she’s doing the wrong thing and God will open her eyes and her heart and tell her ‘Joanne, that’s not right what you are doing.’ Please God, help her change her mind. Stay friends with that girl but let her be with a man.”
JoJo’s father believes the family needs a miracle and says: “They’re not to be together. A woman and a woman, it’s not right.”
“If they get married, I don’t think I will go to the wedding. I can’t. As much as I love Jess and Joanne, I won’t see them getting married,” says Lody.
“Sorry, I can’t. I can’t go. I will be sinning in front of God and I can’t do it.”
Can the couple gain Sid and Lody’s approval before their big day? Or will Jojo’s parents sabotage their wedding day before they even walk down the aisle?
