Tori Spelling could be heading to jail for tax fraud, according to a bombshell new report, just in from the US.
The reality star and mother-of-five, 44, has been drowning in debts for years alongside husband Dean McDermott.
Now, sources have told Star magazine, the couple’s situation has become so dire that authorities in the US are finally running out of patience.
“All their debts, which just keep growing and growing, have put them so deep in the hole that it seems there may be no way out,” an insider told the publication. “But what’s truly scary is how much they owe the government. Having their money actually seized shows just how serious their problems are. Tori’s running out of options, and the walls are closing in.”
Last November, Tori and Dean were sued by American Express over an unpaid balance of $88,595 USD [$115,959.65 AUD.]
A string of other liens and financial punishments followed, culminating last month when LA’s Superior Court ordered them to pay back over $200,000 USD [$265AUD] because they hadn’t repaid a loan for twice that amount that was granted to them in 2012.
With no end or solution to their fiscal woes in sight, Star sensationally alleges that jail is now a looming possibility for the pair, whose lavish spending is blamed by sources for landing them in such trouble.
New York-based criminal attorney Brooke Camhi told Star, “Should Spelling continue to default on paying back the bank loan in full, plus interest, the courts have discretion on punishments in situations like that.”
LA-based criminal justic attorney Steve Cron said, “At the moment this is not a criminal case. But if there is any kind of fraud happening, Tori could do time.”
A source added, “If a court found that she committed tax fraud, Tori could face as much as five years in prison.”
Spelling has yet to respond to Star's allegations.
