Arden addressed the public and the world stage at a press conference in Wellington today, to announce the change in legislation: "Every semi-automatic weapon used in the terror attack on Friday will be banned."
Arden has expressed hopes that the new law will be in place by April 11.
On March 15 a gunmen opened fire at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The gunmen has been identified as an Australian citizen, who reportedly live-streamed the horrific act of terrorism.
Shortly after the attack, Arden said that it was the "worst act of terrorism on our shores" and promised that New Zealand's gun laws would change "within 10 days of this horrific act of terrorism."
