An Australian woman with the debilitating digestive condition Crohn’s disease, who wrote about juicing cannabis leaves to ease her pain, has shared her shock after her home was raided by police.

In November Morgan Taylor, 21, penned a heartfelt blog post on the subject of medicinal cannabis use which she said ‘has been taboo for way too long’.

In her blog post, Morgan – whose Crohn’s disease took a ‘turn for the worst’ at the beginning of 2015 – spoke of managing to ‘get her hands’ on some cannabis, which she started using for pain.

A month later, she said her home was raided and her father (pictured) arrested by police

‘In late 2016 and early 2017 I was able to get my hands on cannabis leaves that I juiced and drank everyday,’ Morgan wrote.

‘During these few months I felt better than I have in years. I was finally putting on weight, I was exercising and my Crohn's was going into remission, something I had never achieved with pharmaceutical drugs,’ she added.

But just weeks after sharing her blog post, Morgan – whose sister also suffers from the same condition – said police arrived on the family’s doorstep with a warrant.

'Our father started growing medical cannabis for us out of necessity because he wanted to ensure that our medication would be coming from a reliable source and grown organically,’ Morgan wrote on a MyCause page about the situation.

‘On the 8th of December the police knocked on our parents' door with a search warrant for the property.

‘They seized our medicine and ripped all of the plants out of the ground.

She now hopes her family will be an example to show the Australian government that laws 'need to change'

‘Our dad was taken to the police station and was held for 7 hours. He now faces a trial with costly legal fees that our parents can't afford.

‘We are hoping to be an example to show the Australian government that our laws need to change.

‘If you want medical cannabis legalised we're asking you to please donate to help us fight this battle. Thank you,’ Morgan concluded her post.
