The MailOnline has claimed that workers at the Nayika factory in Bagru, Rajasthan, where the blanket is made make around $123 per month working a 48 hour week.
"The blanket almost costs what I earn in two weeks and that's difficult for me to believe," Aruna Regar, 50, a seamstress at the factory, told the publication.
"We struggle to make ends meet and life is very difficult for us. Our conditions in the factory are good and we are not treated badly.
"But our biggest problem is the money that we earn, it's a pittance. I'm very happy that such an important person is using my blanket because it means there will be more orders for the company and continued work for us."
She admitted that she had never heard of Meghan, Archie or Prince Harry but did know about the Queen.
Aruna is reportedly lives in a half-built brick house with her husband, two sons, their wives and two grandchildren.
Meghan has previously spoken of her wish to help the planet through her philanthropy and her desire to raise her son to be 'eco-conscious'.
The former Suits actress has guest editing British Vogue's iconic September issue.
