"He’s walking to the three," said Westwood One announcer. "He’s at the two, and the cat is in the CDW red zone!"
"Policemen and state troopers have come onto the field, and the cat runs into the end zone!" Harlan continued, shouting, "That is a touchdown!"
According to Us Weekly, players were forced to vacate the field as stadium officials chased after the cat.
"First thing to cross my mind, no joke, was like, 'F***k, [the Giants] got bad luck now. It just turned on them," Cowboys player DeMarcus Lawrence told CBS Sports after the game. "If a damn black cat runs on a football field on 'Monday Night Football,' you might as well call it quits, bro. Y'all luck is terrible."
MetLife building security told sports reporter Madelyn Burke that stray cats tend to take shelter in the bleachers and typically only wander out when the stadium is empty.
"This one must have gotten startled out by fan noise," Burke tweeted after the game.
And those concerned about the cat's wellbeing can rest assured it's in great hands.
A statement from MetLife Stadium read:
"The black cat ran off the field and disappeared under a seating section. Once we locate and safely capture the cat, we will take it to a veterinarian for an examination."
