Once you have your candle you also need to treat it in a certain way so that you get the best results and for as long as possible. Let's face it - those things aren't cheap.
Claire Barnes, General Manager of the candle company ECOYA says there are a few insider tips and tricks we need to follow if we want to get bang for buck from our candles. They are firstly, only ever burning your candle for three hours at a time.
This provides the ideal fragrance 'throw', says Claire, and also allows the candle to burn to the edge of its container. That's important because it will mean that your candle burns evenly from then on in and lasts for much longer.

Claire also recommends trimming the candle wick each and every time you light it up.
The wick only needs to be approximately 6mm in length, she explains.
"Keeping it this length will avoid mushrooming which can result in unnecessary soot. This also controls the size of the flame allowing you to get the most time out of your candle," adds Claire.

Finally, opt for soy wax candles when you can, says Claire.
"Soy wax burns 30 per cent cooler than paraffin or paraffin blends, meaning that your soy wax candle will always last longer," she says.
