How many pairs of jeans do you own? For most of us, the answer is somewhere between one and five. Jeans are one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe: you can dress them up or dress them down, depending on your mood or the occasion.
Give a girl a good pair of jeans and she can take over the world. If you’re in the market for a new pair and not sure where to start, opt for one of the classic, popular-for-a-reason silhouettes. A slim cut is universally flattering (ignore what Gen-Z-ers have to say on TikTok!); the classic boyfriend silhouette only gets better with age; and the straight jean is making a comeback.
If you’re in the market for a new pair, place Trenery at the top of your agenda. The retailer’s denim line-up is seriously impressive – here, we highlight three of the brand’s most in-demand styles:
The boyfriend jean
Merino Cashmere Cable Rollneck, $199; Boyfriend Jean, $129; Philippa Boot, $249; all at Trenery.
Scared of a loose-fitting boyfriend jean? Don’t be. This best-selling style is midwaist and features a tapered leg to temper the slouchy silhouette. When it comes to styling boyfriend jeans, tuck in your top to give your waist some definition. Paired with a woolly knit and a pair of black leather loafers, you’ll look smart enough to pick up a coffee at your local and then wander into work on a (casual) Friday.
The slim jean
Recycled Wool Blend Peacoat, $399; Extrafine Merino Crewneck Knit, $119; Slim Jean, $129; Philippa Boot, $249; all at Trenery.
If you prefer a slim or skinny fit, try Trenery’s Slim Jean. Made using a high power comfort stretch material, the shape holds its sleek look over time. This form-fitting cut can handle a little extra volume on top; style them with everything from a t-shirt to roomy silk blouse or oversized knit.
The straight jean
Wool Yak Multi Stripe Pullover, $129; Merino Wool Needle Deflection Knit, $149; Straight Leg Jean in Washed Indigo, $129; Emma Sneaker, $139; all at Trenery.
We’re calling it: 2021 is going to be the year of the straight leg jean. While they were never ‘out’ per se, the straight jean is trending this year and we’re not mad about it. Put simply, this style is as versatile as they come. “We designed our straight jean with all the best attributes of the boyfriend,” says Trenery Design Manager for Womenswear, Maria Kozub. “It’s got the same flattering mid-waist and relaxed hip and thigh, but with a straight leg.” Dress them up with a blazer for an office-appropriate look or pair them with sneakers for those more casual off-duty moments.
