Sauce can be made up to three days ahead. Keep, covered, in the fridge. Warm slightly before serving. The Dutch Company syrup wafers, also known as stroopwafels, are available in the international section of major supermarkets.
4 bananas, peeled, halved lengthways
8 scoops vanilla ice-cream
2 tblsps chopped roasted peanuts
Canned whipped cream and halved syrup wafers, to serve
135g packet Werther’s Original Chewy Toffees
60g white marshmallows
2 1⁄2 tblsps milk
To make the caramel sauce, combine all ingredients in
a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir for about 3 minutes, or until melted. Remove from heat. Stir until smooth. Cool slightly.
2 Divide bananas among four shallow glass dishes. Top with ice-cream scoops. Spoon the warm caramel sauce over the top of the sundae. Sprinkle with peanuts.
3 Serve sundaes with whipped cream and wafers.
