Christie - who has starred on Aussie TV hits such as Offspring, House Husbands and The Wrong Girl - is set to play Scarlett Brady, a troubled woman with a very dark past (and one hell of a hidden agenda!).
The new role comes after Christie was thrown into the spotlight following allegations of indecent assault she made against co-star Craig McLachlan on the Rocky Horror Show set.
Australian actor Craig McLachlan was charged with assualt and sex offences in Melbourne back in January, with Victorian Police confirming the 53-year-old had been charged with one count of common law assault, eight counts of indecent assault, and one count of attempted indecent assault.
The allegation that were made against the prominent actor began after a joint Fairfax Media/ABC investigation took place.
At the time, Whelan Browne alleged to Fairfax the sexual harassment took place while on stage:
"So he started the kissing down the neck and down the arm, but then it gradually moved to the breasts and down the stomach.
“So he would keep kissing as if he was going to keep going and I would have to swat him away."
Braving the scrutiny of the public and the media following the sexual misconduct claim, fans were delighted to see Whelan Browne make her comeback with gusto.
"So fab ♥️ you are the queen," wrote one fan.
"Woo hoo! This is awesome! Love Neighbours & love your acting 💗" wrote another social media user.
All we can say is look out Ramsey Street!
