Australian’s everyhere were left heartbroken when Molly from A Country Practice passed away due to Luekemia.
Now, the actress who played her, Anne Tenney has revealed why her character died in the show.
Watch her discuss it here…
“I actually wanted to leave [the show],” Anne admitted on The Morning Show.
“I had a meeting with producers and they said, ‘look we really want to write you out well, so if you don’t take enough time to leave you might get hit by a truck.’
“They had that choice of breaking up Brendan and Molly, but they didn’t want them to get a divorce. So, I think one of the producers had seen Terms of Endearment and they thought leukemia.”
Of course, Anne knew that Molly’s death would affect the show’s fans.
“The character molly was so popular that I had fans from kids to 92,” she says.
“When they said they were going to write Molly out well and that she is going to die from leukemia, I knew quite a lot of people were going to be affected by that.”
After Molly left A Country Practice she went on to star alongside Stephen Curry and Eric Banner in The Castle.
“The cast was really great,” she said. “Steve Curry and Eric Banner are really funny people… it was great fun.”
