Angelina Jolie has broken her silence after reports of her split with husband Brad Pitt.
'Angelina has filed for dissolution of the marriage,' according to a statement from Robert Offer, Jolie Pitt's entertainment attorney. 'This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.'
Echoing this, Angelina's manager, Geyer Kosinki told E News: 'Angelina is doing what's best in the interest of taking care of her children. She appreciates everyone's understanding of their need for privacy at this time.'
However, TMZ reports '[an insider said] that Angelina became "fed up" with Brad’s consumption of weed and possibly alcohol, mixed with what she believes is "an anger problem"… [and] felt it became dangerous for the children.’
In a later report, a source told TMZ Ange is lying when she says Brad has anger issues.
'He's a loving and devoted father who has never and would never put his children in any dangerous situation,' the source said.
The New York Post is reporting that Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt after discovering he was having an affair with French actress Marion Cotillard on the set of their film, Allied.
In a statement released to PEOPLE, Pitt said his focus is on the 'well-being of our kids.'
'I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids,' he said in the statement. 'I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.'
