End-of-year social invitations are rolling in – and we all want to look our best. However the key to looking younger for party season doesn’t necessarily come in a jar. (Or needle!)
Wella ambassador Renya Xydis says a tired ‘do can be to blame for an aged appearance. Here she explains some simple styling tips to unlock a youthful new look for party season.
1. Straight Mistake
'Stay away from stick straight hair, which can be ageing,' Renya says. 'If you want to look youthful, your hair should always have body and movement.'
2. Get Glowing
'Shiny skin looks healthy and youthful – and the same goes for shiny hair,' Renya says. 'Embrace hair oils to seal cuticles and lock in moisture.'
3. Ends Matter
'Older women can have long hair, so long as it’s well cut and maintained,' Renya says. 'I also recommend investing in a salon blow-dry once or twice a week.'
4. Colour Wise
'To achieve a youthful colour, it’s best to see a professional,' Renya recommends. 'It’s also equally important to commit to post-colour maintenance.'
5. Investment Treatments
'Weekly protein and moisture treatments are time consuming,' Renya says. 'But the result is fewer breakages or split ends, which ultimately looks more vibrant.'
6. Thin Disguise
'For thinning hair, layers add extra volume and create the illusion of fuller hair,' Renya suggests. 'A deep side part is also a quick and easy cover up solution.'
7. Style Smart
'For a flattering party season look, I’d recommend some loose waves set with a shine spray. This style is forgiving on flyaways and has a great shimmering finish.'
